The Three Lakes of Shinano Omachi,
Also Known as the “Three Lakes of Nishina”
-
Lake Aoki
Located in the northernmost area of the Three Lakes of Nishina, it features a rich abundance of nature. Fireflies can be seen dancing here in early summer, and it has become a very popular destination for viewing cruises. Activities such as SUP and canoeing can also be enjoyed here.
-
Lake Kizaki
Water-based activities are very popular here and you can enjoy fishing and lakeside camping throughout the year. Also, water lilies bloom here between late spring and early summer, creating a beautiful sight for you to enjoy.
-
Lake Nakatsuna
Lake Nakatsuna is a popular spot for Japanese carp fishing, with many visitors coming back for another try. We recommend this location to everyone wishing to come and enjoy fishing quietly. During winter, when the lake has frozen over, you can make a hole in the ice and try ice fishing! This is also a very popular spot in spring for tourists when the cherry blossom trees are blooming.
Activities
Lakeside Camping
There are lakeside campgrounds located at both Lake Aoki and Lake Kizaki, where you can camp at throughout the year. Even in summer, you can relax in the cool shade of a lakeside tree while taking in the breathtaking view! Access from Omachi City center is very easy. We recommend coming here with family or friends for a group camp. As the campground is by the lake, you can enjoy water activities or even combine your visit with an experience tour.

SUP
SUP is an abbreviation for Stand-Up Paddleboard. For this activity, participants stand on top of a board (similar to a surfing board) and paddle to move across the surface of the water. The buoyancy is very stable, allowing even beginners to have fun. Enjoy the refreshing feeling of gliding across the water while surrounded by the beautiful 360-degree view of both the mountains and nature! At Shinano Omachi, you can experience this exciting activity at the quiet and nature-rich Lake Kizaki and Lake Aoki.

Firefly Viewing Cruise
The firefly viewing cruise is an activity that can be experienced on the lake during early summer. See the fireflies, which only inhabit clear water, up close on a canoe with this tour. The dancing fireflies above the lake along with the reflections on the lake’s surface create a magical world for you to enjoy. If the weather is nice, then you can not only enjoy the fireflies but also the starry sky. This is an experience you can enjoy only on a summer night in Shinano Omachi.
