A Journey through the History, Culture,
and Natural Scenery of Shinnano Omachi
In the olden days, you had to pass by Omachi to deliver salt and seafoods from Itoigawa City beside the Sea of Japan to downtown Matsumoto CIty, so it is called “Chikuni street・Shio no Michi.” As the route used in the olden days, it was bustling and lively. Being surrounded by the Northern Alps’ natural environment also further strengthens the culture of Omachi. Now Shinano Omachi acts as the door to Kurobe Dam.
